Breathe & Tea: Miami’s refreshing social meditation experience - with tea of course.
Hosted by Brian Lemmerman from Alma Community
Topic:
The Nature of Experience
For the first Breathe and Tea, we will be discussing the nature of experience. What does it mean to be present? To have an experience? Mindfulness and meditation are tools for anyone to use but how to do they work? When we learn to focus our attention on an experience it can become our whole world for the time that we are focused. Occasionally, we have those moments where we flow and get lost in the activity whether that be watching a movie, dancing with friends, or writing an event description email. OK, so some experiences are easier to be present for than others. We are going to get into the nitty gritty of conscious awareness, how we describe it, and what it truly means to share space with someone. Let's share an experience together and discuss what we learn when we pay attention to the world around us. Let's have some tea, take a breath, and dive deep into the nature of experience.
Special Guest Teacher: Cory Hardaker
Cory Hardaker is a teacher of the body, the spirit, and the mind! For over 12 years he as been guiding students towards learning through lectures, demonstrations and sometimes wild gesticulations. He believes that good teachers point the way, but only the student can walk through the door of the teashop. At times, to get the point across he uses humor, a slightly irreverent style, and emphatic pointing. Cory has a Master’s Degree in Asian Studies and spends his time teaching meditation, self defense, anti-bullying, and kidnapping prevention. He is the co-host of the podcast Mindfulness of Doom.
